A name that many thought had disappeared from the transfer picture has suddenly returned to the spotlight with just days remaining before the window closes. The player’s future at Everton appeared to be taking shape, but recent developments have reopened the possibility of a late move to Italy.
While attention remains focused on another deal that could determine the shape of Fiorentina’s attack, contacts over Beto are still alive as the Italian club races against time to find a replacement for Moise Kean, who is closing in on a move to Como.
Fiorentina Keep Beto Among Their Options
According to Inside Futbol, Fiorentina have maintained contact over a potential move for Everton striker Beto during the final days of the transfer window, with the Italian club yet to reach an agreement with Manchester United for Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee has been Fiorentina’s preferred option, but with no agreement currently in place, the club have started looking at alternatives, and Beto remains one of the names on their list.
The 28-year-old Portuguese striker has once again become a transfer target after Fiorentina identified him as a possible replacement for Moise Kean, who is closing in on a move away from the club to Como.
Beto was also linked with a move away from Everton in January, when Juventus attempted to sign him on loan. However, Everton rejected the proposal and decided to keep the Portuguese forward.
Contacts between Fiorentina and Beto remain alive, but the Italian club have yet to decide whether to move for the Everton striker or continue waiting on Joshua Zirkzee.
Beto’s position in David Moyes’ plans could also be one of the factors making a departure possible, with the striker currently behind Thierno Barry in Everton’s attacking pecking order.
Everton have also been looking for another striker during the transfer window and entered the race for Liam Delap, which could further increase the possibility of Beto leaving if the right offer arrives before the market closes.
Beto’s current contract with Everton runs until the end of next season, although the club have an option to extend it. Reports have also suggested that intermediaries offered the striker to Juventus during the past week.
Although Beto was previously viewed as Fiorentina’s leading candidate to replace Kean, the situation changed after Zirkzee emerged as a stronger option in the club’s plans.
Manchester United have still not reached an agreement with Fiorentina over Zirkzee, and with fewer than five days remaining before the transfer window closes, the Italian club do not want to be left without an alternative if the deal fails.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina remain in contact regarding Beto, keeping the door open for the Portuguese striker to move to Italy during the final days of the window.
Beto also has previous experience in Serie A after spending two seasons with Udinese, scoring 21 goals in 61 league appearances. That experience could give him an additional advantage if Fiorentina decide to make a move for him.
However, Beto is not the only alternative on Fiorentina’s list. Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo is also being considered should the club fail to sign Zirkzee.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether Fiorentina would prefer to sign Beto permanently or bring him in on loan, making the final days of the transfer window particularly important for the Everton striker’s future.
Everton, meanwhile, are working on a completely different deal, with the club attempting to bring Jack Grealish to Hill Dickinson Stadium. The player reportedly prefers a move to Everton over the other offers available to him.
Beto therefore finds himself facing several possible outcomes: staying at Everton or moving to Fiorentina, with much of the situation depending on how the Italian club’s negotiations for Zirkzee develop before the transfer window closes.
