Kylian Mbappé named among targets of alleged kidnapping plot in France as investigation reveals troubling details
French newspaper Le Parisien has revealed disturbing details from an ongoing criminal investigation after Kylian Mbappé’s name emerged among a list of people allegedly targeted by a group planning kidnappings and violent attacks.
According to the report published on Wednesday, an 18-year-old man identified as “Clément L.” was placed in custody as part of the investigation after being charged in Nanterre on August 21 in a case involving organised robbery and procuring.
Investigators reportedly suspect the teenager of being the alleged mastermind behind a series of home attacks and kidnapping plans that either took place or were being prepared between April and August.
Mbappé among 26 alleged targets
The case reportedly extends far beyond the Real Madrid star. According to Le Parisien, the group allegedly had 26 targets, including footballers, rappers and wealthy business owners.
Kylian Mbappé was reportedly among those targeted, adding a serious dimension to an investigation now being handled by French authorities.
The investigation reportedly led authorities to the teenager following an attack on a watchmaker in April in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Investigators then expanded their work after uncovering other alleged plans linked to the group.
Le Parisien reported that the teenager was remanded in custody and placed in isolation, while another alleged accomplice was released under judicial supervision.
The case remains at the investigation and allegation stage, meaning the accusations against the suspects have not been finally established by a court.
The development comes as Mbappé remains one of the most prominent figures in French and world football, making the reported appearance of his name among the alleged targets of such a criminal plot a major story in France.
