Three Premier League Clubs Are Chasing a Barcelona Star… and Barça Set a €55 Million Price Tag

The early signs of the January transfer window are already beginning to emerge at Barcelona, despite the summer window having closed only a few days ago. As the Catalan club prepares for potential developments in January, a surprise has emerged that could put one of the team’s defenders firmly in the spotlight in the coming months.

What makes the situation particularly interesting is that the player attracting interest from Premier League clubs is far from a peripheral figure in Hansi Flick’s plans. Instead, he has become an important part of Barcelona’s starting lineup during the opening weeks of the season. With interest now coming from more than one club, speculation is growing over the possibility of a major transfer worth more than €50 million.

According to a report published by Sportowy and relayed by CaughtOffside, Eric Garcia is attracting strong interest from three Premier League clubs: Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa. All three clubs are considering making a move for the Spanish defender during the upcoming January transfer window.

The interest comes at a significant time for Garcia, who has enjoyed an important role at Barcelona after Flick deployed him primarily at right-back during the opening stages of the 2026-27 season. The player has also delivered consistent performances and continued to play an influential role for the team since last season.

Barcelona are believed to be unwilling to part with the player easily, although the club has reportedly set an asking price of around €55 million should a suitable offer arrive. As a result, any move from Tottenham, Newcastle or Aston Villa would require the English clubs to meet significant financial demands from the Catalan side.

Garcia suffered an injury during Barcelona’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Valencia on Sunday, but that has not stopped the English clubs from maintaining their interest in his services. The 25-year-old defender also has previous Premier League experience, having played for Manchester City before returning to Spain and joining Barcelona.

Despite the interest from three English clubs, Eric Garcia’s departure from Barcelona in January currently appears unlikely. The defender has become an important part of Flick’s plans and feels settled at the club he considers his home, making a mid-season departure extremely difficult to imagine.

The question now is whether the Premier League clubs will decide to submit a formal offer matching Barcelona’s reported valuation, or whether the Catalan club will shut the door early on any attempt to sign their defender during the January window.
