\u201cWe didn\u2019t play well. The team tried for a good result, but today was not our day. We were ineffective and failed to take advantage of the opportunities we had.\u201d<\/p>\n
Flick continued, saying: \u201cWe did create chances in the second half, but typically we create more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the team\u2019s struggles in La Liga, where they\u2019ve now gone three games without a win, Flick remarked:<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we control the game, we can play well and generate chances, but when we don\u2019t, that\u2019s when we struggle. Previously, it was easier to generate chances and score, but now it\u2019s different. Today, we didn\u2019t score, and we need to change that. We have to defend better, and if you don\u2019t score, it\u2019s harder to keep a clean sheet. It\u2019s a team issue, not just a defense issue.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cNow we need to regroup and refocus. We have tough games ahead in La Liga, then Dortmund\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked if Marc Casado\u2019s absence and Gavi\u2019s inclusion in the starting lineup had an impact, he responded:<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to discuss any specific player. As a team, we could have performed better, and that\u2019s why we didn\u2019t win.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Lamine Yamal\u2019s return after recovering from injury, Flick commented:<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter two weeks without training with the team, it\u2019s good for him to come back and play a few minutes, especially with the upcoming game against Mallorca.
