Instead, he openly discussed a match that could have been settled by a wide margin before Elche regained confidence and fought its way back into the contest. Elche reduced the deficit through Abiel Osorio in the 71st minute before Fer Ni\u00f1o equalized in the 83rd minute. The match then changed completely, but Carlos Esp\u00ed scored Real Madrid\u2019s winner in the 91st minute following an assist from Mbapp\u00e9 to secure all three points.<\/p>\n

Regarding the reason behind the players\u2019 drop in performance, Mourinho explained that the only interpretation he could see was that some players may have approached the match as if it were easy, perhaps believing Real Madrid would win by four or five goals. At the same time, he stressed that matches do not work that way and that conceding a single goal can change everything and give the opposition a new boost.<\/p>\n

Mourinho also praised Elche\u2019s coach, noting that he made changes that helped reshape his team and make the match more difficult for Real Madrid. He explained that Elche could have lost by a large margin considering the chances Real Madrid created, but the home side\u2019s adjustments helped them return to the game.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese coach also spoke about Yan Diomande, pointing out that the player continues to develop, particularly from a physical standpoint, and that his ability to play for long periods has become increasingly clear.
