Two tools in one

Random club picks one or more teams from the leagues you tick. People use a random football team generator for career-mode challenges in EA FC or Football Manager, for a quick office sweepstake, to choose which shirt to wear at five-a-side, or simply to settle who supports whom in a kickabout. It also works as a random football club generator for quizzes: pick a club and ask the room to name its stadium or nickname.

Split players into teams takes your list of names and deals them into even sides. It is the quick, argument-free way to pick teams for a Sunday kickabout, PE lesson or training session.

How to pick a random club

  1. Tick the leagues you want. The Premier League is ticked by default.
  2. Add any other clubs in the box, for example your local non-league sides or Scottish clubs.
  3. Choose how many teams you need and whether repeats are allowed.
  4. Press Pick random team. Press again for a new draw.

The Premier League list is the 2026/27 season, including promoted Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town. The La Liga and Serie A lists (20 clubs each) and the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 lists (18 each) are from the 2025/26 season. Promoted and relegated clubs change every summer, so if you play an older edition of a video game, add or remove clubs with the custom box.

How to split players into fair teams

  1. Paste the names of everyone playing.
  2. Put goalkeepers, or your two or three strongest players, in the second box. They are shared out first, one per team, so no side ends up with all the stars.
  3. Choose the number of teams and, if you like, give them names such as “Bibs” and “Non-bibs”.
  4. Press Make teams. Copy the result into the group chat before anyone complains.

Teams differ in size by at most one player. With 11 players and 2 teams you get 6 v 5; rotate a player off every ten minutes to keep it fair.

Ideas for using random teams

How we tested it

We checked each league list for duplicates and that the Premier League has 20 clubs and the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 have 18. We ran 200 draws of 25 teams without repeats and confirmed every draw returned all 20 Premier League clubs exactly once. In 20,000 single picks every club appeared between 956 and 1,060 times. For the splitter we tested 10, 11, 13, 22 and 7 players across 2 to 7 teams: sizes never differed by more than one, nobody was lost, and with goalkeepers listed every team got one.

Frequently asked questions

Which clubs are included?

The 20 Premier League clubs of the 2026/27 season, the La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 clubs of the 2025/26 season, plus 27 well-known national teams. Promotion and relegation change these lists every summer; you can also add any clubs you like in the box below the leagues.

Is the pick really random?

Yes. The tool uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, and every team in the chosen lists has the same chance. In our test of 20,000 single picks from the Premier League, every club came up between 956 and 1,060 times, close to the 1,000 you would expect.

Can it pick several teams with no repeats?

Set “How many teams” to the number you need and leave “Allow repeats” unticked. Each team then appears at most once, which is what you want for a sweepstake or a draft. Tick it if every pick should be independent, for example one random team per round of a video game challenge.

How does the player splitter keep teams fair?

Players are shuffled and dealt out one by one, so team sizes never differ by more than one. If you list goalkeepers separately, each team gets a keeper first. It cannot know who is good, so if your group has a few stand-out players, list them as “keepers” too and they will be spread across the teams.

Is my player list saved?

The last list you split is kept in your browser so you can reuse it next week. It is not sent anywhere.
