Man Utd ‘targeting £67m Real Madrid star’ who could transform their fortunes this season
Manchester United is reportedly eyeing a Real Madrid player valued at £67 million, who could significantly impact their performance this season.
The club has had its worst league start in 35 years, following a goalless draw against Aston Villa on Sunday. Currently, under Erik ten Hag, they sit in the bottom half of the table at 14th place, with only eight points accumulated.
This disappointing beginning comes despite a busy summer transfer window during which United signed Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte. Although they added Ugarte to bolster their midfield, it seems Ten Hag is looking for another midfielder as the January transfer window approaches.
Spanish outlet **Todo Fichajes** has linked United with Aurelien Tchouameni, who is also on Liverpool’s radar. The report suggests that Tchouameni may be permitted to leave Real Madrid, where he was brought in during the summer of 2022 for an initial fee of £68.3 million from AS Monaco.
United could potentially pursue the 24-year-old, who is estimated to be worth around £67 million. Acquiring Tchouameni could revitalize Manchester United’s midfield in the latter part of the season, an area where they have struggled despite Ten Hag’s previous reinforcements.
After a recent 3-3 draw with Porto in the Europa League, Ten Hag commented on Ugarte’s need for time to adjust, stating: “We brought in new young players again, and we have to integrate them, like Manuel Ugarte.
“The No.6 position was one we aimed to fill this season, but he needs time to integrate. I understand that in top football, players are expected to perform immediately, but that’s not always realistic. Ugarte must adapt to our playing style, get familiar with his teammates, and adjust to the intensity of the Premier League.”
