Former Real Madrid boss says ‘whole team has to change’ to get the best out of Kylian Mbappe

Bernd Schuster, former Real Madrid manager, has emphasized that the entire team needs to adjust to help Kylian Mbappe reach his top form, following the Frenchman’s mixed start since joining from Paris Saint-Germain.

Though Mbappe leads Real Madrid in goals this season, he has faced some criticism for inconsistent performances. Schuster, who managed the club from 2007 to 2008, believes that a player of Mbappe’s caliber will ultimately succeed, but it requires time and changes in the team’s style to fully unlock his potential.

Real Madrid’s early-season struggles

Real Madrid’s start to the season has been challenging, marked by the end of their 36-match unbeaten run after a loss to Lille in the Champions League. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed concern over the club’s form, despite remaining undefeated in La Liga. The team currently trails Barcelona by three points in the league standings, and their performances have not yet matched last season’s highs.

Schuster’s take on MbappeSchuster, speaking to MARCA, explained that while elite talents like Mbappe often adapt quickly, his transition to the Spanish giants might take longer. “Normally it’s easier for them, but sometimes it’s a bit difficult. I think it’s a question of matches. He knows what he has to do, it’s a question of time. The whole team has to change a bit, not just him,” Schuster commented, underscoring the need for tactical shifts within the squad.

Mbappe’s recovery and Real Madrid’s next challenge

Mbappe was left out of France’s squad for this international break due to injury but is expected to be fit for Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo on October 19th. As he continues his recovery, fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see if he and the team can turn their form around in the coming weeks.
