The player is not at Barcelona’s level and will be the first La Masia gem to leave the team

Hansi Flick made the surprising decision to let go of one of Barcelona’s young talents in the upcoming transfer window, citing a lack of confidence in the player’s abilities. This season, Barcelona is leading the La Liga table with eight wins and one loss, totaling 24 points, three ahead of Real Madrid.

According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport,” Flick placed trust in defender Hector Fort for the match against Alaves, where Fort performed well despite limited prior opportunities. This was his first start of the season, as he had mostly seen minutes only in the final moments of matches, making him the least used player in Barcelona’s squad.

However, it appears that his inclusion in the starting lineup against Alaves was not a show of confidence from Flick, but rather a consequence for Jules Kounde, who had played every minute until then but was penalized for arriving late to the match.

In other words, Hansi Flick still views the Spanish Under-19 international as “not mature” enough to compete at Camp Nou. Flick regrets not accepting Joao Cancelo’s return and failing to secure a new right winger during the summer transfer window. He has urged Joan Laporta and Deco to seek reinforcements for that position.

It’s becoming evident that Fort is not a suitable replacement for Jules Kounde, and there are concerns about relying on a young player in critical matches if Kounde were to get injured. Therefore, Victor Fort should consider leaving Barcelona soon if he wants regular playing time at a high level.

A loan move appears necessary for his development, as remaining on the bench for too long would hinder his progress. Fort is open to a loan in January, having received interest from clubs like Cadiz, Valladolid, and Getafe, among others.

Alaves were also close to signing him in the summer, but Barcelona opted to keep him at the last moment—a choice that Flick now regrets.
