The player has asked his agent to hold off on responding to Al-Khelaifi’s offer, as his priority is to move to Barcelona

One of the leading players in European football has confidently declined an offer from Paris Saint-Germain, presented by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and has instead chosen to join Barcelona.

The ongoing competition between PSG and Barcelona for top signings remains intense, this time vying for a world-class player who both clubs hope to acquire on a free transfer.

According to the Spanish newspaper *El Nacional*, Lille striker Jonathan David is receiving multiple offers to leave his club at the end of the season due to his contract expiring on June 30.

David has made it clear he will not renew his contract, making him a free agent who can sign with any club without a transfer fee. His impressive performances lately have established him as one of the top strikers in the game, attracting interest from leading European clubs.

In Paris, David is seen as a key target, with support from Luis Enrique, who recognizes the need for a new striker. The roles of Gonzalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani may not suffice if Kylian Mbappé moves to Real Madrid, prompting the club’s leadership to consider signing the Canadian international, who has scored eight goals and provided two assists this season. However, David has indicated a preference for a different opportunity.

He is more interested in Barcelona, where he is among the potential signings identified by Joan Laporta and Deco, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s future in 2025. This situation could lead Barcelona to seek a new striker, positioning David as a viable candidate.

Barcelona’s scouts report that David is ready to embrace the role of primary striker at Camp Nou. He prefers to start a new chapter in La Liga rather than continue in Ligue 1, where he has been since joining Lille in 2020. Consequently, Laporta and Deco appear to have the advantage in the pursuit of his signature.
