Carlo Ancelotti ignores Mbappe and Vinicius after the Celta Vigo : « He saved us »

In a press conference following Real Madrid’s narrow victory against Celta Vigo in La Liga, manager Carlo Ancelotti showered praise on veteran midfielder Luka Modric, calling him the “savior” of the match. Despite the recent focus on Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior, who scored the two goals, it was Modric’s decisive play in the 66th minute that shifted the match in Madrid’s favor.

Ancelotti lauded Modric for his outstanding assist to Vinicius Junior, helping the team regain control after Celta Vigo had equalized. The Croatian, who at 39 years old became the oldest player in Real Madrid’s history to feature in a match, delivered a crucial pass that led to the winning goal.

“Luka Modric is fantastic. He saved us today,” Ancelotti remarked. “He always makes a difference, whether he starts or comes off the bench. It’s a blessing to coach him.” Modric’s performance has solidified his position for upcoming matches, as he aims to continue playing until 2026.
