BARCELONAFC Barcelona keeping keen eye on Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies during Champions League match
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona is going to be watching Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies very closely when the teams square off tonight in the Champions League:
The Canada international’s agent is thought to have held meetings with Barcelona and Real Madrid already, but it’s still not clear where he will play his football next season.
Mundo Deportivo think that Barcelona are in with a good chance of landing Davies due to the “Flick factor.”
Hansi Flick worked with Davies previously at Bayern and actually handed him his debut during the club’s treble-winning season.
Alphonso Davies (23 years old) is one of the players that Barça has its eye on due to his quality and the important detail that his contract with Bayern ends next summer. The Catalan club has always liked the Canadian left-back and even more so now that Hansi Flick is the owner of the Barça bench. And the fact is that the Barcelona club has information about Davies, also a target for Real Madrid.Barca, however, is still grappling with the constraints of financial fair play (FFP), which makes every potential acquisition an issue. However, the Catalans are aiming to shed some weight from their payroll after this season to make room for move like the one they are pondering for Davies:
At the moment, Barça is pressed by the constraints of fair play, which prevents it from aspiring to many high-profile signings. However, the club is confident that duringthe current campaign, deals will be closed that will increase its salary capacity. And in this context, Davies is a player who is considered to be ‘top’ and, therefore, would improve the performance of the left-back.
One factor that Barça considers to be a major factor is that Hansi Flick coached Davies at Bayern in the sextet and that the German coach converted the Canadianfrom winger to left back. The club believe that this trust between coach and player could be key to deciding whether or not to renew with Bayern.
Real Madrid and Manchester United are also being linked with Davies right now, suggesting he may have his pick of clubs when his contract expires in the summer
