BARCELONABarcelona will have to stump up €60-70 million for Lewandowski replacement target
Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski is having a standout season and is likely to secure the Pichichi Trophy, despite the La Liga season being less than a third complete. However, as Lewandowski will turn 37 next season, the club is considering future replacements.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has his sights set on Erling Haaland from Manchester City, but given the challenges in acquiring him, other candidates are being evaluated, including Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
Gyokeres, who has scored 14 goals in 14 matches this season, is seen as a viable option. Reports indicate that he would cost between €60-70 million to transfer. Though he is attracting interest from Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, he has a contract with Sporting until 2028, which includes a significant €100 million release clause.
Nevertheless, a gentleman’s agreement exists allowing for a sale if an offer in the €60-70 million range is made. A winter transfer is unlikely, but Gyokeres is expected to move in the summer of 2025. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will pursue him or look at other alternatives.
