Real Madrid ‘ready to sell’ huge name in deal that would rock all of Europe as squad rebuild begins

A Real Madrid player could be set to leave the club after a succession of poor performances this season.

Madrid has had a mixed start to the season, currently sitting second in La Liga, six points behind Barcelona. The situation worsened for Madrid fans when Barcelona delivered a painful 4-0 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu last weekend.

Despite winning both the league title and the Champions League last season, doubts are emerging about Madrid’s players. The recent El Clasico loss highlighted how easily players like Pedri and Marc Casado were able to navigate a shaky Madrid midfield.

The Spanish champions have not adequately replaced Toni Kroos, who retired last season. Ancelotti has options in Fede Valverde, Luka Modric, Dani Ceballos, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham, but one central midfielder, Aurélien Tchouaméni, has faced criticism for not starting in recent matches against Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.

At just 24, Tchouaméni has lost favor in Madrid. The French international joined from Monaco in 2022 for around £83m (including potential add-ons) but has struggled to fulfill his potential at the club, leading to speculation about a possible transfer.

According to Relevo, the club’s board favors Camavinga over Tchouaméni, a situation currently under discussion between the club and manager Ancelotti.

Tchouaméni has reportedly caught the attention of Premier League club Liverpool, with Spanish outlet Fichajes stating that Madrid has indicated an offer of about £66.6m could convince them to sell, potentially as soon as January.

Arne Slot attempted to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, but the player opted to stay with his current club. Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch has performed well in a deeper role for Liverpool, though with only Wataru Endo as backup, the team may find themselves lacking options if Gravenberch gets injured.
