Spanish reports have confirmed that a Barcelona player will miss today’s derby match against Espanyol in the 12th round of La Liga. Currently, Barcelona sits atop the La Liga standings with 30 points, six points ahead of second-place Real Madrid. According to the Spanish newspaper “AS,” Eric Garcia’s absence from training sessions led to his exclusion from the squad for the Espanyol match.

The report indicated that Garcia did not train with the team yesterday, making his participation in the upcoming match nearly impossible. Garcia had been a key part of Barcelona’s starting lineup until recently, with his last appearance on October 20, when he experienced discomfort in his right leg muscle during warm-ups before a match against Sevilla.

Since the start of the current season, Garcia has played nine matches across all competitions, primarily in a defensive midfield role. Barcelona is set to host Espanyol this evening for the Catalan derby as part of La Liga’s twelfth round.
