Rivaldo reveals the player Barcelona needs to win the Champions League and warns Flick about the team’s star
Barcelona currently tops the La Liga table with 33 points, leading Real Madrid by 9 points, who sit in second place with 24.
Former Barcelona star Rivaldo shared his thoughts on the team’s performance under German coach Hansi Flick following Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby. He noted that Flick has instilled confidence and provided opportunities for academy players, but emphasized that it’s still early in the season and the team needs more time to fully assess their progress.
Rivaldo stated, “Things are going very well. Flick has brought a lot of confidence, but we can only make a better analysis once the season is over. So far, it’s working well, and I hope it continues.”
He believes Barcelona is well on its way to winning La Liga, but winning the Champions League will be more challenging. “In the league, there are many chances to be champions, while the Champions League is tougher, even with talented players on the team.”
Regarding the player Barcelona needs, Rivaldo identified the Swedish striker Victor Gjokers from Sporting Lisbon as the ideal candidate. He argued that Barcelona requires a world-class scorer, as their current Polish striker lacks the necessary energy and finishing ability, which has been evident in missed opportunities against teams like Espanyol and Real Madrid.
