Barcelona upset with team star’s behaviour, Laporta decides to let player go

Barcelona is experiencing a historic period in terms of both performance and results, breaking long-standing goal-scoring records, largely thanks to the guidance of experienced German coach Hansi Flick. Currently, Barcelona sits at the top of the La Liga standings with 33 points, 9 points ahead of second-place Real Madrid, though Real has a game in hand against Valencia.

However, according to “Radio Catalunya,” Barcelona’s management is beginning to distance itself from Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong due to his recent behavior. After recovering from injury and making a brief return to play, De Jong will need to put in extra effort to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup, especially given the strong performances of Casado, Pedri, and Olmo.

The radio station also reported that Barcelona is waiting for De Jong’s decision regarding a contract renewal, but the club believes he is delaying his response in order to leave when his current deal expires in 2026. While Coach Hansi Flick views De Jong as a key part of his project, there are no guarantees about the player’s future with the team. Tensions between De Jong and the club have been high since Barcelona attempted to force his move to Manchester United in the past.
