Manchester City’s new sporting director eyes signing of ‘untouchable’ player for Hansi Flick’s squad
After Barcelona’s remarkable performance this season, top European clubs are eager to sign several players from the Catalan side due to their exceptional technical abilities. Manchester City, under their new sporting director, is reportedly targeting an “untouchable” player from Hansi Flick’s squad.
According to the Spanish newspaper *El Nacional*, Hugo Viana, who recently joined Manchester City as sporting director, has been tasked with strengthening the team by adding key players. His focus has already shifted to Barcelona’s standout performer, Raphinha. The Portuguese director, who replaces Txiki Begiristain, has prioritized the Brazilian winger for the upcoming transfer window.
City is looking to bolster its attacking options to remain competitive in both the Premier League and Champions League. Raphinha’s speed, dribbling, and goal-scoring ability make him an appealing choice. Viana, who has significant experience in player transfers, sees Raphinha as an ideal fit for Pep Guardiola’s tactical system.
On the other hand, Barcelona has no intention of selling Raphinha. Coach Hansi Flick views the Brazilian as a key player, and his contributions on the wing, including his support for players like Robert Lewandowski, have been crucial to the team’s success this season. Club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco also consider Raphinha indispensable.
Despite Barcelona’s firm stance that Raphinha is not for sale, Manchester City may still make an aggressive move, leveraging their financial power and Guardiola’s influence to tempt the player with a lucrative offer.
