Harry Kane didn’t hesitate when choosing if he would prefer to play with Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi
Harry Kane has revealed the player he would have loved to play alongside during his career.
At 31, Kane is widely regarded as one of the top strikers of his generation, having scored 357 goals in 560 club appearances for teams like Tottenham Hotspur, Millwall, Leicester City, and Bayern Munich. On the international stage, Kane holds the record as England’s all-time leading scorer with 68 goals in 101 appearances.
Throughout his career, Kane has shared the field with some of football’s best, including Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale, Manuel Neuer, and Thomas Muller. However, the England star named Argentina legend and Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi as the player he would have loved to team up with.
In an interview with ESPN, Kane said, “I’d love to play with Messi. One of the greatest players to ever play our game. I’m sure he’d be able to give me a few assists!”
Although Kane chose Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of a dream teammate, he later acknowledged that both players were major sources of inspiration for his own career. In a separate conversation with ESPN, Kane reflected on their incredible longevity, saying, “What they’ve done, they’re as good in their 30s as they were in their 20s. Me just turning 30 now, it obviously excites me to know that if I keep my body in good shape and maintain the right mentality, I could be playing at the highest level for as long as I want.”
He added, “Those players have set the bar—along with a few others. It motivates me and shows that it’s possible to keep playing at the top. It’s amazing to see those two still performing at such a high level; they’re two of the greatest ever to play our game.”
Messi has been in excellent form for Inter Miami as the team continues its push in Major League Soccer. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been finding the back of the net regularly since leaving European football for the Saudi Professional League at the end of 2023.
Kane, for his part, has scored 17 goals and provided 9 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for Bayern Munich in the 2024/25 season.
