Barcelona’s Sporting Director, Deco, has decided to remain in his role for the long term after previously considering stepping down. Since returning to the club and leaving his player agency, Deco has faced a difficult tenure, characterized by limited resources and considerable scrutiny. However, strong backing from Barcelona President Joan Laporta, including public praise and internal discussions, has convinced Deco to continue with the Blaugrana.

Reports suggest that Deco felt overwhelmed during the summer, particularly under the pressure of the transfer window. Nonetheless, the club’s recent successes under head coach Hansi Flick, coupled with the strong performances of summer signing Dani Olmo, have restored Deco’s confidence in his position.

After the transfer window closed, Deco took a brief break in Mallorca to recharge. It was also reported that he sought medical attention for nausea related to work stress in mid-August. With these challenges behind him, Deco is now focused on supporting Laporta’s vision and moving forward with the club’s future plans.
