BARCELONANico Williams reveals how Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde tried to convince him to join Barcelona
Nico Williams has revealed how Barcelona stars tried their best to convince him to move to the club during the summer transfer window.
The Athletic Club star emerged as Barcelona’s top target, but the Catalans missed out on Williams as he ended up staying at the Basque side instead,
Williams has been quizzed about his summer on the tv show La Revuelta TV and admitted it was a tricky time as the likes of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde would text him “all the time.”
He added: “It was difficult. On top of that, the ‘bastards’ of Lamine and Balde and others didn’t help. They would say to me ‘brother come now, come now.’”
Nico also revealed he still receivesmessages from Barcelona fans despite opting not to make the move last summer.
“It’s difficult to evade yourself from that,” he said. “I still get messages despite not being linked. It’s a bit of everything. Many people say ‘go to Barca’ and others say ‘we don’t need you anymore.’”
Barcelona ended up signing Dani Olmo instead of Williams and have seen the forward star on his return to the club from RB Leipzig.
