Barça: Deco firmly addresses rumors about Haaland’s potential arrival
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Deco refrained from commenting on the possibility, stating that there are no current plans to sign a striker.
“Finding a striker like Robert Lewandowski today is very difficult. There may be one or two players of his caliber, like Haaland, but there aren’t many available.
However, we’re not obsessed with finding a striker at the moment. Our focus is on what Robert can bring. I believe he is probably happy here; he is a winner, and if we have a good season, he will likely want to stay with us.
We first need to evaluate if Haaland is the right option for the future, but that’s not something we need to decide right now. At the moment, we don’t need a ‘number 9.’ We have Robert, and we don’t plan to add another striker,” he explained.
Deco also addressed the speculation surrounding Viktor Gyökeres, saying, “He’s a good player, someone who’s been scoring goals for a while in Portugal, and we know him like others do. But he’s not a priority for us at this moment. We’re not looking for a ‘number 9’ to replace Robert, as we want him to stay with us, be happy, continue scoring goals, and we hope that lasts for at least another season. We’ve won trophies with him, and he’s happy here. There’s no talk of any other player at the moment.”
