Barcelona interested in 21-year-old rising star who rejected Real Madrid contract offer
Martin Baturina is making a name for himself with impressive performances at Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb, catching the attention of top European clubs.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has already sparked serious interest from Real Madrid, with reports revealing that he recently turned down a five-year contract offer from the Spanish giants.
Now, according to Sky Sport Germany’s Patrick Berger, Barcelona has also joined the race for Baturina’s signature.
The young talent, who is eager to take the next step in his career, plans to leave Dinamo Zagreb at the end of the season. Barcelona is reportedly keen on signing him, with the endorsement of Real Madrid legend Luka Modric.
Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are also interested in Croatian international Martin Baturina, but according to reports, the 21-year-old views the Bundesliga as the ideal next destination before moving to a bigger club.
Baturina, who has scored two goals and provided seven assists in 17 appearances this season, does not have a release clause in his contract with Dinamo Zagreb. He is expected to cost between €20-25 million in the summer.
**Do Barcelona Need Baturina?**
While Baturina is an exciting prospect, Barcelona already boasts a wealth of options in the attacking midfield position. With players like Dani Olmo, Pedri, Fermin Lopez, and Pablo Torre available for the role, and Raphinha also proving effective when deployed centrally, Barcelona’s midfield is well-stocked. Additionally, young talents such as Unai Hernandez and Noah Darvich are coming through the ranks and could make an impact in the near future.
Given the abundance of attacking midfielders, it would likely be more prudent for Barcelona to allocate their resources towards strengthening other areas of the squad that require more immediate attention, rather than pursuing Baturina.
