Transfer Window: Neymar Set to Return but to where?
Neymar’s time in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal is reportedly coming to an end. The Brazilian forward, who joined the club in the summer of 2023 for a reported €90 million after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, has faced a series of injuries that have hindered his progress. After suffering a torn cruciate ligament upon arrival, Neymar’s return to action was further delayed by a hamstring injury in his second match, adding to his frustration at 32 years old.
Now, it seems his future lies back in Brazil, with reports indicating that he is close to reaching an agreement to return to Santos, the club where he began his career. According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Neymar’s management has grown disillusioned with his situation in Saudi Arabia and is negotiating with both Al Hilal and Santos to terminate his contract, which was set to run until June 2025.
Discussions between Neymar and his former club have been ongoing for several weeks, and it appears a deal is nearing completion. Santos, currently leading the Brazilian second division and on track to return to the top flight, is reportedly eager to bring Neymar back to the fold, with the transfer expected to be finalized after the conclusion of the current season.
Should the deal go through, Neymar would be returning to his roots at Santos, where his legendary career first began, much to the excitement of fans eager to see their prodigy back in action.0
