BARCELONAHansi Flick wants Bayern Munich star duo at Barcelona
FC Barcelona are thriving under former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, who has revitalized the team and introduced an exciting style of play since joining in the summer. Flick led Barcelona to a notable victory over Bayern in the Champions League group stage last month.
During his successful 18-month tenure at Bayern from 2019 to 2021, Flick built strong relationships with the players, and now he reportedly wants to bring a few of them to Barcelona. According to *Mundo Deportivo*, Flick is keen on signing Bayern stars Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies. Both are in the final year of their contracts, making them potential free transfers for Barcelona. However, their high salaries could present a financial challenge for the club, which has been working to reduce its wage bill in order to meet La Liga’s financial fair play regulations.
Bayern is not eager to part with Kimmich and Davies, both of whom have been standout performers under coach Vincent Kompany this season. Securing both players from Bayern would be a major achievement for Barcelona.
Barcelona may have a better chance of signing Davies, as contract negotiations with Bayern have stalled, though the club has not ruled out extending his deal. The Canadian left-back, who flourished under Flick, is reportedly being pursued by Real Madrid and Manchester United, but his representatives have denied any pre-contract agreement with Madrid. Flick’s influence could play a key role in persuading Davies to join Barcelona.
On the other hand, Kimmich is expected to sign a new contract with Bayern. The German midfielder has held positive discussions about extending his stay and has expressed a desire to remain in Munich, especially after securing an important role under Kompany. Unless something disrupts his relationship with the club, Kimmich is likely to commit to a long-term deal with Bayern.
Additionally, Leroy Sane, another key Bayern player, is also in the final year of his contract, meaning speculation about the futures of these players will continue until Bayern makes an official announcement.
