Xavi on the way”, “Messi said get out” – Fans react as Tata Martino has reportedly decided to leave Inter Miami
Fans have expressed their reactions on X after journalist Tom Bogert reported that Tata Martino has decided to leave Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. Despite having a year left on his contract, the former Barcelona coach is reportedly parting ways with the team for personal reasons.
Martino joined Inter Miami on June 28, 2023, and was soon reunited with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. During his tenure, the Herons won the Leagues Cup last season, marking the club’s first-ever trophy.
The 61-year-old coach further strengthened his squad by signing Luis Suarez at the end of the season. Inter Miami had a remarkable 2024 campaign, securing the MLS Supporters’ Shield after topping the Eastern Conference with a record-breaking 74 points from 34 games.
However, Martino’s team was unable to capitalize on this success, as they were eliminated in the first round of the Playoffs, losing 2-1 in a best-of-three series against Atlanta United.
Under his leadership, Messi and the team won 35 of 67 games, achieving a win rate of 52.24%, with 16 draws and 16 losses. One fan expressed their reaction to Martino’s reported departure by posting:
Meanwhile, Neymar is currently out with a thigh muscle injury, which he sustained just two games after recovering from a severe ACL injury last October. His move to Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 has not worked out for either side, and reports suggest the 32-year-old is now considering a return to Brazilian club Santos.
Fans will likely be disappointed if Neymar does not reunite with Messi at Inter Miami. The two stars formed a devastating partnership during their time at Barcelona from 2013 to 2017 and also played together at PSG. They shared the pitch 206 times for both clubs, contributing to 67 goals and winning numerous trophies together.
