Not Haaland… Deco and Hansi Flick choose the new striker to succeed Lewandowski
Barcelona has already started making moves in the transfer market to find a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who may leave the club at the end of the season. Despite his strong start to the season, with impressive performances and many goals, Lewandowski’s future at the club is uncertain. His high salary is a concern for Barcelona, and the club is pushing him to accept a significant pay cut. If Lewandowski refuses, his contract, which expires on June 30, could lead to him leaving on a free transfer after three years with the team.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flick is eager to keep Lewandowski for a longer period, believing the Polish striker can continue performing at a high level for several more seasons, though he acknowledges that Lewandowski might have to leave.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Barcelona has started searching for a suitable replacement for Lewandowski, looking for a prolific goal-scorer like him. Some names that have been suggested include Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, and Victor Gyökeres, but these deals would require significant investments. As a result, the club is also considering more financially feasible options, such as Jonathan David, who currently plays for Lille in France.
David, who has indicated he plans to leave Lille soon and will be available on a free transfer in the summer, has not shown any interest in renewing his contract. The Canadian forward, who has had a strong season with eight goals and two assists, has caught the attention of both Deco and Flick. He could be a potential ideal replacement for Lewandowski if he departs.
