Barcelona prepared to offer two players for Chelsea superstar in the most outrageous swap deal of the year

Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer two of their key players in an attempt to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez in a major transfer move.

The Spanish club has reasserted itself as one of Europe’s top teams this season, sitting at the top of La Liga, ahead of Real Madrid, and comfortably among the top eight in the Champions League.

According to a recent TeamTalk report, Barcelona is keen to strengthen their squad and is prepared to include Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres in a deal to bring the Argentine to Camp Nou.

Fernandez, who became one of the Premier League’s most expensive signings when he joined Chelsea for £107 million nearly two years ago, is a target for Barcelona, who hope to avoid paying a transfer fee by offering De Jong and Torres instead.

De Jong and Torres were signed by Barcelona for a total of £115 million but have struggled with consistency, causing their market value to drop. Transfermarkt currently values De Jong at £49.3 million and Torres at £24.6 million.

At the beginning of the season, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca initially favored a midfield partnership of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo over Fernandez. However, the 23-year-old has since shown his worth, contributing three goals and six assists in his last six appearances, including goals in his last five Premier League matches.

Now an essential part of Chelsea’s starting lineup, Fernandez has made 19 appearances this season.

Reports suggest Chelsea considers him untouchable in both the January and summer transfer windows, which could make Barcelona’s pursuit more difficult.
