Instead, he has chosen to pair Eric García with Íñigo Martínez. This is an interesting choice, as Flick has repeatedly stated throughout the season that he didn’t consider Eric as a central defender, seeing him only as a useful pivot.

While this may seem surprising, Flick’s decision is part of a strategy to sell the Catalan defender. He included him in the Leganés match for this reason.
