Barcelona forward set to undergo tests after fresh injury; doubt for Atletico Madrid game

Barcelona’s recent 1-0 home loss to Leganes was a tough result, made even worse by an injury to their star forward, Lamine Yamal.

In the 15th minute, Yamal was the victim of a rough tackle from Neyou, which targeted his right ankle – an area that had already been troublesome for him this season.

Despite the clear pain, Yamal continued to play for another fifty minutes, even after being checked at halftime.

His performance was noticeably affected; he was less involved, avoiding the ball, and moved from his usual right-wing position to a less impactful central role.

Yamal is scheduled for further medical tests on Monday to assess the condition of his right ankle, according to Diario AS.

This injury is particularly worrying as it follows a previous grade one syndesmosis injury to the same ankle, which Yamal sustained during a match against Red Star on November 6.

That injury had initially kept him out for two to three weeks, causing him to miss key matches against Real Sociedad, Celta de Vigo, and Brest.

Will Yamal be ready for Atletico Madrid?

With the crucial match against Atletico Madrid approaching in less than a week, which will be the last game of 2024, Barcelona’s hopes of having Yamal available are fading.

The club is preparing for the possibility that he may not recover in time for the important fixture.

Yamal’s potential absence could be a significant setback for Barça, especially given their struggles when he’s not in the lineup.
