Hansi Flick draws up a list of unwanted players at Barcelona and demands their departure in January
Hansi Flick has compiled a lengthy list of Barcelona players he wants to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window. The German coach feels several players are unable to meet the team’s needs and have not been performing at a high level recently. Their departure would free up space in the squad, reduce the wage bill, and provide the club with much-needed funds.
Flick has reportedly informed Joan Laporta and Deco of his desire to offload several players, including Hector Fort and Ansu Fati. Fort, who delivered a poor performance against Las Palmas, seems set to leave the team, as he is unlikely to play in the near future. Meanwhile, Fati has struggled with persistent injuries that have affected his form and has not contributed significantly to the team. His future is uncertain, and he is expected to be one of the first to leave in January.
The club is also looking to part ways with Gerard Martin and is in the market for a new left-back to compete with Alejandro Balde. Eric García, who nearly left in the summer but stayed due to defensive injuries, is another player who may depart. With the recovery of Ronald Araujo and the return of Andreas Christensen, García’s chances of playing are slim, and the club hopes to sell him for more than €10 million.
Pablo Torre, despite showing some promise with three goals, is also on the list of players Flick is not keen to keep. The planned player purge at Barcelona is expected to continue in the summer, with Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres likely to be sold. Barcelona’s management is optimistic about these changes, but finding buyers for some players, especially Ansu Fati, may prove difficult.
