Nasser Al-Khelaifi surprises Barcelona: Paris Saint-Germain star in exchange deal with Lewandowski
Paris Saint-Germain is actively seeking a swift resolution to an issue involving one of its costly signings in the upcoming winter transfer window, as the player in question has failed to meet the high expectations placed upon him. Despite the significant investment made to acquire him, this player has struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup, prompting the club to consider parting ways with him sooner rather than later.
According to Spanish publication El Nacional, PSG is keen to offload Randal Kolo Muani in January after his underperformance under coach Luis Enrique. Despite being signed at the request of Kylian Mbappe, Kolo Muani has not lived up to expectations and remains out of the starting lineup.
In a surprising development, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi proposed a player swap with Barcelona, suggesting that Kolo Muani move to the Catalan club in exchange for Robert Lewandowski joining PSG. Al-Khelaifi views this as a beneficial move for both clubs, with an opportunity to strengthen their attacking lines. After considering the offer, Barcelona president Joan Laporta agreed, believing the deal would favor Barcelona, especially given Lewandowski’s recent decline in form.
Kolo Muani, who has yet to make a significant impact at PSG, is viewed as a young player with considerable attacking potential. Moving to Barcelona is seen as a chance for him to develop in a fresh environment. Al-Khelaifi, aware that Kolo Muani hasn’t met expectations, believes this transfer could be a positive step for all parties.
On the other hand, Lewandowski has experienced a noticeable dip in form this season. After a strong start, his performance has faltered, making his potential departure more likely. PSG is seen as an ideal destination for the Polish striker, whose wealth of experience could benefit the team in European competitions.
Laporta believes that Barcelona would benefit most from the deal. Signing Kolo Muani would add youth and depth to their attacking lineup for the future. The deal would also help rejuvenate Barcelona’s attacking options in light of Lewandowski’s decline, which has recently become a burden. Furthermore, Laporta sees the move as a way to improve the club’s financial situation by easing the financial strain caused by Lewandowski’s contract, allowing for greater flexibility in the market.
