Hansi Flick rules out Haaland and puts a prominent striker on Deco’s agenda in the next transfer window to strengthen Barcelona’s attack

Hansi Flick has a clear vision for Barcelona’s future and has taken an unexpected step in his effort to strengthen the attacking line by targeting a central striker who could replace Robert Lewandowski. Although Erling Haaland had been a top name in recent talks, the German coach has ruled out the Norwegian forward as a preferred option.

According to Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” Flick is now focusing on Alexander Isak, the Newcastle United striker, as the ideal candidate to lead Barcelona’s attack in the coming years.

With Lewandowski nearing the end of his career, Barcelona has long been in search of a forward who fits their future plans. While Haaland’s global impact has been undeniable, his playing style does not align with Flick’s philosophy. Additionally, the high transfer cost for Haaland poses a significant challenge given Barcelona’s financial constraints.

In contrast, Isak has emerged as a more viable option. The Swedish striker, currently at Newcastle, has become known for his versatility, technical skills, and speed in linking up with wingers and midfielders—traits that align well with Flick’s tactical approach. Unlike Haaland, Isak offers a more dynamic and adaptable style that suits Flick’s methods.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has started monitoring this situation and is already exploring the possibility of signing Isak. Although the player’s contract with Newcastle runs until 2028, making him expensive, Barcelona is confident they can negotiate a deal. Isak’s previous La Liga experience with Real Sociedad adds extra value to the potential transfer.
