Currently, Barcelona relies on Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde for the right and left-back spots, but the lack of reliable backups is a concern for Flick, especially with a busy season ahead. As such, Cancelo, who now plays for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, is considered an ideal addition, bringing versatility and experience to both positions.
Cancelo’s desire to return to Barcelona is a key factor in this move.
