Xabi Alonso is close to a historic deal with Real Madrid and is offering the player on a silver platter to Florentino Perez
Reports have highlighted the role Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is playing in a potential future deal for Real Madrid.
According to the press, Xabi Alonso is expected to take over as the next coach of Real Madrid, succeeding Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti. Spanish media have suggested that Real Madrid is eager to secure Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the upcoming summer transfer window.
There has been significant speculation about the connection between Zubimendi’s potential move to Real Madrid and Alonso’s possible appointment as manager. As per the Spanish newspaper Relevo, which confirmed Real Madrid’s interest in signing Zubimendi next summer, his release clause stands at €60 million, making the transfer financially viable.
The publication also noted that if Alonso becomes the next coach, the transfer could be more straightforward for Los Blancos due to the close relationship between Alonso and Zubimendi. The two previously collaborated at Sociedad, and both share the same agent. The newspaper concluded by mentioning that Real Madrid sees Zubimendi as the perfect successor to the iconic Toni Kroos, whose exit has created a noticeable void in the team this season.
