Things are escalating at the Bernabeu… Florentino Perez is fed up with Real Madrid’s disastrous duo after the crushing defeat to Barcelona

Real Madrid suffered a loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, and the team is eager to move past the disappointing result. The performance in Jeddah placed the entire squad under scrutiny, which coach Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged during the post-match press conference. As time progresses and circumstances change, the futures of several players, including Lucas Vazquez, seem uncertain, with the possibility that his time at Real Madrid could be coming to an end.

Despite Ancelotti’s reluctance to publicly assign blame, both Aurelien Tchouameni and Lucas Vazquez are under increased scrutiny. Vazquez’s situation is especially complicated, as his contract is set to expire in June. Before the Super Cup, Vazquez expressed pride in wearing the captain’s armband but acknowledged the uncertainty of his future.

Journalist Joaquín Maroto, who is familiar with club president Florentino Pérez, reported that Real Madrid has no plans to renew Vazquez’s contract. Maroto stated on the “X” platform that Vazquez is no longer considered a starting player, with the club either opting to play Valverde in that position or signing a new right-back in January. Maroto also suggested that both Lucas and Tchouameni will not have their contracts renewed.

While neither Pérez nor José Ángel Sánchez has made a final decision, the potential signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold seems to be pushing the situation toward a resolution.
