Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was given a straight card for apparent dissent towards referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero during Saturday’s clash against Osasuna.
In the 38th minute, a frustrated Jude Bellingham was seen speaking to referee Montero near the center circle, protesting a previous decision. Although it remains unclear what exactly the England international said, Montero halted the game moments later and showed Bellingham a straight red card, sparking outrage among Real Madrid players.
As seen in the footage, the 21-year-old appeared shocked as his teammates surrounded the referee in protest. Journalist Jonas Adnan Giæver noted on social media, “Jude Bellingham shown a straight red for something he said to the referee in the Osasuna v Real Madrid fixture. Considering Real Madrid’s ongoing tensions with referees and the Spanish Football Federation, this just adds fuel to the fire.”
Bellingham has now received his second red card since joining Real Madrid, having also been sent off after their heated 2-2 draw against Valencia in March 2024.
