Barcelona’s clash against Osasuna has been postponed to a later date following the tragic death of the Catalan club’s first-team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia.
The match, originally set to begin at 20:00 GMT, was canceled just before kickoff. At 7:45 PM on Saturday, Barcelona confirmed the tragic news on X (formerly Twitter) with a statement that read:
“FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date.”
The club also expressed that the FC Barcelona Board of Directors and all staff extend their heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Osasuna issued a similar statement regarding the postponed game at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, saying:
“Club Atlético Osasuna wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia and sends a warm hug to all FC Barcelona staff and fans during this challenging time. May he rest in peace. Goian bego.”
La Liga also released an update, noting:
“La Liga regrets the death of FC Barcelona’s first-team doctor, Dr. Carles Miñarro, and informs that the match @FCBarcelona_es – @Osasuna scheduled for today has been postponed, pending the decision of the sole judge of Competitions. La Liga extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends, club, and fans, and the new date and time of the match will be announced shortly
