Carlo Ancelotti ‘considering’ moving Real Madrid star into new position

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is contemplating a tactical shift that could see defender Éder Militão moved to the right-back position in the coming weeks. This consideration follows the serious injury sustained by Dani Carvajal, who will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to multiple ligament ruptures in his right leg, sustained during a recent La Liga match against Villarreal.

With Carvajal out, Lucas Vázquez is expected to step up as the primary option at right-back. However, Ancelotti is aware that Vázquez may require rest or could face fitness issues as the season progresses. As a result, the coaching staff is exploring the possibility of utilizing Militão in the right-back role, despite the priority of maintaining his central defensive partnership with Antonio Rüdiger.

Reports from The Athletic indicate that while keeping Militão in central defense remains a key strategy, Ancelotti is prepared to adapt his tactics and test the Brazilian’s versatility as the season unfolds.
