Ibrahima Konate Defends Kylian Mbappe Amid Criticism and Psychological Struggles

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is facing significant scrutiny following his high-profile transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. France teammate Ibrahima Konate has come to his defense, suggesting that the relentless criticism may take a psychological toll on the star player.

Despite scoring seven goals in 11 matches for Real Madrid, Mbappe has been criticized for his performance and was notably left out of the France squad for upcoming UEFA Nations League matches due to a minor injury. Coach Didier Deschamps explained that Mbappe’s absence is precautionary, yet the forward remains a focal point of discussion among fans and media alike.

Konate expressed deep concern for Mbappe, acknowledging the immense pressure he faces. “Sometimes I put myself in his shoes, and if I had all this hype around me, I don’t know if I would have held on,” Konate said during a press conference. He added, “He has no life! And it must be hard for him,” emphasizing the burden of constant scrutiny.

The Liverpool defender also reacted to the hostile reception Mbappe received from Lille fans during a recent Champions League match, stating, “I don’t understand why he is being booed in Lille. It’s weird… it must not be easy to experience that in his country.”

As the France national team prepares for their upcoming matches against Israel and Belgium, Mbappe will be eager to regain his form ahead of Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Celta Vigo on October 19.
