Capello Issues a Warning to Mbappé Over His Performance with Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello issued a strong warning to Kylian Mbappé regarding his underwhelming performances since joining the club this summer.

The 25-year-old player made the switch to the royal club in the summer of 2024, arriving on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. In comments reported by the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” Capello stated: “When a major star joins Real Madrid, he must realize that he needs to work as hard as any other player. At Real Madrid, there are many stars, not just one.”

Capello also noted that Mbappé should have thought carefully about his decision to move to Real Madrid, particularly given the presence of Vinícius Júnior, the world’s best player, which might make it difficult for Mbappé to feel as comfortable as he did in Paris.

The Italian coach suggested that Mbappé would likely remain in Vinícius’s shadow during his time at Real Madrid and would find it challenging to outshine him, as the Brazilian has skills and attributes that differ significantly from those of Mbappé.

The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that Mbappé is unhappy with Capello’s comments, believing he can adapt to Real Madrid and potentially become the best player in the world soon.

In response, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti reached out to Capello, urging him to soften his criticism of the French star, especially since Mbappé has shown solid statistics with Real Madrid this season, despite not having fully adjusted to the team.

So far this season, the French star has played in 11 matches for Los Blancos across all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 1 assist.

The Merengues are now preparing to take on Celta Vigo next Saturday evening in the tenth round of La Liga following the international break.
