Nations League Round-Up: Wins for France, Italy, and Germany
France secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Belgium in their UEFA Nations League clash, with Randal Kolo Muani scoring both goals for the visitors in Brussels. Despite playing the final 15 minutes with 10 men after Aurelien Tchouameni was sent off, France held on to strengthen their second-place position in Group A2. Youri Tielemans missed an early penalty for Belgium, and Lois Openda briefly leveled the score before Kolo Muani’s powerful header secured France’s win.
Group leaders Italy moved closer to the quarter-finals with a dominant 4-1 win over Israel. Mateo Retegui opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before halftime, followed by captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s brace and Davide Frattesi’s goal. Mohammed Abu Fani pulled one back for Israel with a direct corner, but Italy’s control never faltered.
In Group A3, Jamie Leweling made his debut for Germany, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands. Leweling’s first-half effort was disallowed for offside, but he made up for it with a second-half strike. The Netherlands pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but Germany held firm.
Elsewhere, Hungary triumphed 2-0 over Bosnia in Zenica, courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai’s two goals. Group B4 saw Turkey pull off a 4-2 comeback win against Iceland with four second-half goals, overcoming early strikes from Orri Oskarsson and Andri Gudjohnsen.
Wales’ Harry Wilson continued his fine form, scoring in a 1-0 win over Montenegro, while Georgia stumbled at home with a 1-0 defeat to Albania.
