Real Madrid Eyeing Jeremie Frimpong as Summer 2025 Target

Real Madrid made significant moves in the 2024 summer transfer window, securing high-profile signings like Endrick and Kylian Mbappé. However, these deals were long anticipated, with the club already planning ahead for a major overhaul in the summer of 2025, particularly focusing on bolstering their defense.

Next year’s transfer window promises to be crucial as Real Madrid seeks reinforcements in key defensive areas, specifically at left back, center back, and right back. Players like Álvaro Fernández, Antonio Silva, and Alphonso Davies are reportedly on the radar to strengthen these positions.

In addition, Real Madrid has been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s star right midfielder Jeremie Frimpong, according to a report from Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg. Frimpong has been one of the standout performers in his position, playing a pivotal role for Leverkusen over the past few seasons. His 40 million euro release clause, which becomes active in the summer of 2025, makes him an affordable target for Los Blancos.

Frimpong’s attacking prowess has drawn comparisons to former Real Madrid star Achraf Hakimi, who left the club after a successful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund and later joined Inter Milan and PSG. Although Hakimi didn’t reach his full potential at Real Madrid, Frimpong’s signing could offer the club a second chance to secure a dynamic right-back talent.

Real Madrid is also closely monitoring Leverkusen’s star midfielder Florian Wirtz, but Frimpong addresses a more pressing need in defense, particularly with Dani Carvajal sidelined by a season-ending injury. Despite Frimpong’s attacking style, some question whether he can fully replace the defensive qualities of a player like Hakimi, who was once tipped for Ballon d’Or contention.

At 23, Frimpong boasts an impressive record, with 17 goals and 14 assists over the last two seasons. Ideally, he would complement Carvajal rather than act as a direct replacement. However, Real Madrid’s dream target for the right-back position remains Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will be a free agent next summer.

As the 2025 transfer window approaches, Real Madrid is exploring multiple options to strengthen their squad, with Jeremie Frimpong emerging as one of their top targets.
