Didier Drogba n’era more the ceremony of the Ballon d’Or 2024: here is who replaces it

The winner of the Ballon d’Or 2024 will be revealed on Monday, October 28. According to several international media, Brazilian Vinicius Junior, playing at Real Madrid, is one of the favorites to win this prestigious award.

This year, Marc Delire will host the Ballon d’Or ceremony, taking over from Didier Drogba, who co-hosted alongside Sandy Heribert last year. Joining Delire are Belgian defender Thomas Meunier and French international Charlotte Lorgere, who will help highlight the main contenders of this edition.

Unfortunately for Belgium, no Belgian player is among the 30 nominees this year.

In addition to the Ballon d’Or, seven other awards will be presented during the ceremony:

– Women’s Ballon d’Or

– Kopa Trophy (best player under 21)

– Yachine Trophy (best goalkeeper)

– Best men’s team coach

– Best women’s team coach

– Men’s Club of the Year

– Women’s Club of the Year

As for voting rules, 100 journalists from the top-ranked FIFA countries (50 for the Women’s Ballon d’Or) will vote. This year, journalists will rank 10 players, compared to five in previous editions. Points will be distributed as follows: 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, ensuring every player receives a ranking without any zero-point entries.
