Hansi Flick sho.cks El Clasico star: You won’t be a starter
Barcelona delivered a significant blow to their rivals Real Madrid, winning 4-0 in the Spanish League Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium during the 11th round of matches last Saturday night. All four goals were scored in the second half, with Polish star Robert Lewandowski netting two in quick succession at the 54th and 56th minutes, bringing his season total to 14 goals, making him the top scorer.
According to the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” German coach Hansi Flick surprised many by indicating that the standout player from the match would not be a starter moving forward, despite his impressive performance. The report noted that Flick was particularly pleased with Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who outperformed all of Real Madrid’s midfielders and helped maintain Barcelona’s possession. However, Flick expressed that it would be challenging for De Jong to secure a starting spot, emphasizing that changes to the starting lineup would only occur due to injuries, suspensions, or resting players.
