The alarming reaction of Carlo Ancelotti after the slap of’AC Milan
In a press conference after the new defeat of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Carlo Ancelotti did not reassure the Madrilenians. Slapped 3-1 by’AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, the merengues players put their coach in a very delicate position.
Real Madrid suffered another painful blow to their morale with a 3-1 Champions League defeat to AC Milan, following their 4-0 loss to Barcelona in La Liga. Hopes were high for Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to bounce back, but they delivered a lifeless performance, lacking energy, cohesion, and organization on the pitch.
« Mentally, we are not doing well »
In a post-match press conference, Ancelotti expressed serious concerns about the team’s mental and defensive struggles. The coach, facing increasing criticism, explained that midfielder Federico Valverde’s early substitution was due to a back issue affecting his fitness. However, Ancelotti highlighted the broader, collective issues at hand.
“We should be worried. In the last two games, we’ve lacked solidity,” Ancelotti admitted, noting that defensive disorganization has left Real Madrid vulnerable. “This isn’t an individual problem; it’s a collective one. Mentally, we’re not in a good place.”
Ancelotti stressed that the defensive lapses are the responsibility of the entire team. “We can’t keep defending like this. It’s everyone’s fault. We win and lose together,” he added, as Real Madrid now stands with just 6 points out of a possible 12 after four Champions League games.
With Liverpool, who currently lead the group stage with a perfect 12 points, set as Real Madrid’s next opponent, Ancelotti and his squad face mounting pressure and a potentially tense few days ahead.
