Lamine Yamal worries everyone inside Barcelona due to fears of a repeat of the De Jong scenario

The club’s medical report indicates that the 17-year-old is expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks.

This marks Yamal’s second ankle injury this season, as he previously injured the same ankle last November, forcing him to miss three matches. According to a report from Spanish newspaper Marca, Yamal’s current injury is raising fears of a situation similar to that of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Journalist José Álvarez discussed the matter on the El Chiringuito program, saying, “There is concern in Barcelona about Lamine’s situation.” He pointed out that Yamal is suffering from a syndromic injury similar to De Jong’s, adding that Barcelona’s previous management of players like Ansu Fati and Gavi, who suffered from recurring injuries, did not serve as a lesson. Instead, he argued, the club seems to have pushed Yamal into a similar situation.
